Pre-requisites: Certificate IV in Christian Ministry.
Diploma of Christian Ministry builds on Certificate IV and is the pre-requisite for those who wish to go on to the Advanced Diploma.
The program is a Christian Service Level and builds on the Certificate IV. It is ideally suited to those already involved either in ministry or some form of Christian work and service, and for those who wish to enter into a deeper level of study to serve Christ and the church. This programme attracts Austudy, Abstudy or Youth Allowance for eligible Australian students.
Upon completion, learners will have acquired the necessary knowledge, attitudes and skills to serve effectively as workers and pastors, missionaries in churches, parishes, para-church organisations, missionary organisations, and in religious education. Students will learn to apply biblical principles to their daily life and understand how to explain and share those principles with others.
The course includes a broad range of challenging, faith building, and biblically based studies relevant for personal, pastoral, church and community life. Students will learn to apply biblical principles to their daily lives, and how to explain and share those Christian truths with others.
The student is required to complete 11 units while involved in the development of Practical Ministry Skills through their local church or a community based organisation as indicated below –
- 6 Units of Biblical Theology, identified as “CM” units.
- 5 Practical Ministry Skills units
VIC has nominated the subjects for the “CM” units and for the Practical Ministry Skills units, however students may select an alternative subjects from the subject. The decision of the Principal on the substitution request is final.

PC300 Practical Skill Development
You are required complete the five (5) subjects listed below while involved in a department of your local church or a local community-based program in which your practical skills will be developed. You are required to serve under qualified leadership. You will document your work experience based on the requirements outlined in the Practical Skills Development Subjects. Each of the subjects is strengthened with a subject from Vision as listed below. This practical experience must total a minimum of 268 hours.
